Just days after the racially motivated killing of an Indian engineer, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, in Kansas; another Indian businessman was shot outside his home in South Carolina, late Thursday night.
According to reports in NDTV, Harnish Patel, had closed his store at approximately 11.24pm, he was shot barely ten minutes outside his home in Lancaster.
Police are yet to confirm the reason behind the crime, though they have ruled out bias or hate crime, the probe is still underway.

Patel was seen as an important member of the community, since he was kind and treated his customers well, as well as helped law enforcement officials from time to time, and thus there was a lot of anger in Lancaster over the incident.
The recent incidents which have left many Indians living in the US reeling with fear and has certainly raked up a storm in both countries.
It is to be seen if the new Trump government can be effective in enforcing stringent prosecution on such crimes, thus putting end to such crimes and restricting gun violence in the US, once and for all.
