Karni Sena withdraws protest against Padmaavat, says it glorifies Rajput valour

On Friday, February 2, Shri Rajput Karni Sena announced to withdraw its protests against the much controversial Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’, claiming that the movie only glorifies the valour and pride of Rajputs.

Yogendra Singh Katar, Karni Sena’s Mumbai leader stated that under the directions of Sukhdev Singh Gogamdi, national President of the organisation, several members watched the movie in Mumbai and realized that the movie in real only seems to glorify the pride and sacrifice of the Rajputs and that every Rajput should watch the movie, only to feel proud.

In a letter, he said that the movie does not contain any objectionable scenes between ruler Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmini which could possibly hurt the sentiments of Rajput. He declared that the Karni Sena withdraws their protest and will in fact help the administration release the movie in the remaining states, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and across all cinema theatres in India.

The movie had released across theatres in India on 25 of January amidst tight protection from various fringe groups including the Karni Sena.
