At a press conference in Pune, former senate member Atul Bagul and RTI activist, Vivek Velankar of Sajag Nagarik Manch alleged that the Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SSPU), Wasudeo Gade had submitted false credentials to the Governor’s office in May 2012; during the time of his appointment.
In a letter to Governor C Vidyasagar Rao, the duo stated the irregularities in Gade’s credentials and demanded for a fact-finding committee to look into the matter. Highlighting the incorrect information such as Gade’s claims of four awards are not awards but merit promotion and scholarships. Additionally, he has claimed three patents; however only two of them are traceable and his research papers do not hold his name as the principal author or reference author.
According to the Times of India, denying the allegations and terming them as “incorrect and unfortunate”, Gade said “My entire career is in public domain. I have never tried to hide anything, including the projects, patents, PhD students guided by me, international publications, etc.” His term in the office gets over in 2017.
