Two militants and a policeman were killed in south Kashmir’s Tral on Sunday admist the heavy firing that started Saturday evening and proceeded overnight. Four army personnel has also been injured in the encounter.
As reported by Hindustan times, one of the militant killed in the encounter was a Pakistani and the other was local. “The local militant was Aqib Maulvi, a nearby top leader,” Chief general of the state police SP Vaid said.
The killed cop has been recognized as Manzoor Ahmed Naik. He was a local of Salamabad zone of Uri. Vaid, while expressing his grief said that Manzoor Ahmed was a remarkable Jawan of the SOG (uncommon operations aggregate) and the J-K police. Police has also stated that they are dubious of the involvement of commander of Hizb ul Mujahideen Sabzar Ahmed Bhat. The security work force of the cordon and pursuit party went under shooting from the house where the militants were caught.
As soon as the news of clash broke out unrest prevailed in the valley. Stone pelting dissents had started in the territory to chase away the security from the site. On Saturday night, a joint search party of police and army had started asearch operation in Hafoo area of slain militant Burhan Wani’s hometown, Tral, in Pulwama district on specific inputs of presence of militants in the area.
