Murder accused ‘Godman’ Rampal skips Court dates again

In Haryana’s Hisar district, murder accused ‘godman’ Rampal was closeted within his ashram and is also surrounded by armed followers for two weeks. Rampal who runs the Satlok Ashram is claimed to be unwell by his followers and hence cannot travel to Chandigarh.

Since 2010 Rampal has skipped 42 hearings and sought of being free from the obligation repeatedly. The spokesperson of the ashram Raj Kapoor said that a medical certificate will be presented to the High Court to seek more time. The High Court observed and decided to check the credibility of the medical certificate issued by Dr. O P Hooda.

For the 2006 case, Rampal is out on a bail because of his supporters who opened fire on the villagers of Rohtak killing one and injuring several others. Last week Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected Haryana government’s plea and on the other hand placed a non bailable warrant against Rampal.

In Barwala town for over a fortnight Rampal’s followers have been camping outside his ashram to prevent the police from arresting Rampal. According to the officials, security measures are increased around the premises of Punjab and Haryana High Court along with Panchkula and Mohali and additional security have been provided around the railway station and bus to prevent Rampal’s followers.
